Example for buying and selling your home
- Selling a freehold property example:
This example is based on a sale price of £133,000.
- £795 + VAT.
In addition to the above, you may also have to pay other costs and disbursements*. An example of the additional sums you may have to pay:
Title register – £3.
Title plan – £3.
Additional title documents (per document) – £3.
Fees for verification of identification (per person) – £12 (including VAT).
2. Buying a freehold property example:
This example is based on a purchase price of £250,000.
- £850 + VAT.
In addition to the above, you may also have to pay other costs and disbursements*. An example of the additional sums you may have to pay:
Discounted search bundle (drainage, environmental, local) – £188.30.
Land Registry Search fee – £3.
Bankruptcy search fee (per name) – £2.
Lawyer checker fee – £21.60
Fee for online Identification verification (per name) – £12 (including VAT).
Registration fee – £135.
Bank transfer fee (per transfer) – £42 including VAT.

At the moment it can take up to four months to buy or sell a property. This depends on the type of property, how long searches take, whether a chain of buyers is involved and how responsive councils and others are when providing essential information.
