We heard people’s frustrations about legal services loud and clear. Ironically, one of the problems was the industry wasn’t very clear at all. So we decided to do something about it.
At HM3 Legal we’re on a journey to do law differently, so our clients, colleagues and communities can count on us to say what we mean and do what we say. Always. This includes delivering our 6 fresh standards, developing our Vision to act as a force for good, and bringing to life our RISE Values. Here’s how …
What do we mean by putting the service into legal services? Our lawyers will not go AWOL. It’s our commitment to working at pace with clients and providing regular updates; something we call our ‘No chase pledge’.
And where possible we help clients act in a more sustainable way, reducing the impact of their operations too.
Easy to say, hard to do. This means we’re here for anyone frustrated by dealing with bl**dy lawyers, turning dread into delight. And our range of fixed fee options means no surprise bills.
We are proud of achieving Investor in Customers Gold accreditation for four consecutive years (being in the top percentile of businesses ever assessed by the IIC), and our WOW Awards celebrate colleagues’ excellent service levels.
We go beyond the legal question at hand, knowing we can have a positive impact by making more sustainable decisions – reducing emissions and waste, being water wise, and through sustainable procurement.
Doing law differently means treating every client differently, taking time to clearly explain options and steps, and paying attention to individual needs. And above all else, being human and picking up the phone, not hiding behind email.
We think you’ll notice the difference.
As well as ‘being human’ in how we provide legal advice, we also have a positive impact in our communities through volunteering, mentoring, sponsoring and fundraising.
Being a force for good seems ‘fluffy’, right? Not to us. We believe sustainable growth is the only way forward. We are on a journey to achieve Net Zero by 2030 and to do so means understanding our impact and setting credible reduction targets to reach our goal.
One responsible decision at a time.
You will not hear us boasting about eye-watering profits or ballooning headcount at the expense of people or the planet. We do not want our operations to have a detrimental impact at the expense of relentlessly chasing profit by any means. The more we learn, the more we want to make informed decisions that have a positive impact.
A no-brainer, right?
For us, bringing our Vision to life means walking the talk. When we say we are changing lives for the better for clients, colleagues and communities this means taking action not ‘blah, blah, blah!’ soundbites. We believe business should be a force for good and the business community can genuinely make a difference by addressing the climate crisis. By following principles of B Corp we are on a journey of continual improvement to benefit clients, colleagues and communities in which we live and work.
Adding our voice
We want our voice to encourage SMEs to take positive action and embrace sustainable growth – not growth which is costing the earth (literally). By actively supporting our communities, being a Sustainable Palm Oil (SPO) Champion, and promoting national campaigns we are helping to raise awareness of important issues such as health and wellbeing, worker rights, taking climate action, and equity, equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI).
And our Values? Here’s how we are bringing our RISE Values to life …
Our RISE Values (Respect, Innovate, Shine, and Engage) are at the heart of everything we do. Colleagues nominate each other in each of the four areas for expressing our Values in tangible ways. Celebrating achievements through RISE Awards is just one way in which colleagues receive recognition.
Our people are supported through a comprehensive professional and personal training programme, with written SMART goals to help them succeed.
Achieving work-life balance is also important, as is flexibility – hybrid working applies to over 90% of our roles. Our colleagues have the opportunity to contribute ideas and add their voice championed by the Employee Engagement Committee (EEC) responsible for charitable, social events and more.
We treat everyone as an individual and adapt the advice so it measures up to expectations. Which is what we feel you deserve.
Whatever life throws at you, at some point you are likely to need a lawyer – it’s unavoidable. Common questions people ask solicitors are, “What will it cost?” or “How long will it take?” Understandably, they might worry about receiving a surprise bill for more than they expected. Some more traditional law firms might still work this way. HM Legal does not. Our friendly lawyers look out for and work for you, not the clock. We take the time to clearly explain every process and option in plain English, so the service is transparent and there are no runaway costs.
It’s very rewarding to legally guide clients through life’s milestones, like buying their first home, building a business, investing in company premises, or writing a will to protect everything that matters most to them.
